Cornerstone understands that sometimes building a custom built home for a client may not be possible due to cost constraints, time issues, etc., and that a large addition or renovation project to expand a client’s existing space makes more sense.

Sometimes a client’s existing home site is the perfect location, or in close proximity to family, and they may have no desire to move. Large residential remodeling is a process that is different from home building. There is a different skillset that not every custom home builder and subcontractor has.

Cornerstone Custom Builders and our team of contractors are residential renovation experts in adding more space to a client’s existing residence, regardless of whether the project adds space outward, upward, or both. Our architects will design the client’s project to seamlessly integrate the new added living space into the existing home’s exterior and interior, using the same highest quality standards that we incorporate as a luxury custom home builder, and we offer interior design services to our clients, if that assistance is needed. Our constant communication with our clients during the entire process will keep them informed on what to expect, and we always welcome our client’s questions to address any concerns that may arise during the construction of their luxury renovation project.

All renovation projects are expertly scheduled and constructed so that the project will be completed quickly and with minimum time in which the client’s existing home would be open to the elements. Our client’s homes are priority, and because of this, the home and all work areas will constantly be kept clean and in safe condition. Our same warranty that we offer on our custom built home construction projects is also provided on our renovation work as well.

Here are a few of our most recent completed large renovations.

Lake Shore Drive, Chicago

Impeccable views and ultra-modern, upscale finishes all combine to provide true luxury high rise living. Steps from Lincoln Park and Oak Street Beach, this weekend retreat from the suburbs was a complete luxury renovation, flawlessly constructed by implementing our proven home builder and residential renovation construction techniques.

Wicker Park, Chicago

This recently completed modern bar was part of an extensive basement renovation. Finishes for the project included rift cut white oak cabinetry, a combination of quartz and natural stone counters, an added sink, led up lighting in the bar tower cabinets, antiques mirror and wood frame, and bookcases and a gas fireplace in the adjacent living area.

Logan Square, Chicago

This recently completed Logan Square interior renovation showcases a complete update from older traditional, to a more transitional surrounding. Highlights of this project included a complete kitchen reconfiguration, with marble countertops and full-height backsplashes, the repainting and hardwood floor refinishing on all three levels, new stair posts and baluster replacement, and redesigned fireplace surrounds in the living and dining room. New modern light fixtures provided the perfect finishing touches to accent the new furnishings and artwork.

Bucktown, Chicago

Another great city renovation just completed. This Bucktown kitchen was a true labor of love, not without its challenges. The commercial grade appliances all had to be hoisted to the third floor by use of a crane due to hallway size restrictions. Finishes for the projects included all custom white oak cabinetry, quartz counters. Wavy imported subway tile for the backsplash, and a copper apron front sink and copper pendant fixtures.
